I’ve heard mixed reviews as to whether people are loving or loathing Google+ since its release last year. Is the general consensus that as it’s Google, people should at least appear active on the platform to get some SEO kudos? Or are there some genuine G+ fans out there that use it as much as they do Facebook? -I’m guessing not (while your activity rate may be high, irate G+ lover, I sincerely doubt it.)
Google+’s engagement levels are that low it rather sadly ranks behind MySpace and almost any other significant social network you can shake a stick at. Ouch.
Here’s some sorry G+ research from RJ Metrics…
- The average G+ post has less than one +1, less than one reply, and less than one re-share.
- 30% of users who make a public G+ post never make a second one.
- After making five public posts, there is a 15% chance that a user will not post publicly again.
- Among users who make publicly-viewable posts, there is an average of 12 days between each post
If you sign up to Google+, posting once in a blue moon isn’t going to achieve much. Like Facebook you need to make connections with people and commit to sharing relevant and interesting topics regularly.
