Having discovered the Rubberbandits through Youtube, I instantly had big love for these two Irish mentalists, their comedy, videos & music. All of which award winning, I think they even have an MTV show on the go, wey hey! Anyhoo, last night I was chuffed to see that they were coming to Cardiff to gig at Clwb Ifor Bach…
On Friday 11th November 2011 we held our first digital event in Cardiff, THINK DIGITAL. Our aim was to collaborate with other digital professionals in Cardiff and put together a collection of presentations which would both (hopefully!) inform and inspire. Our target audience for the event was local businesses, from start-ups to medium sized companies, possibly with a web presence in place but with scope for improvement and room for ideas and inspiration.
Being a web company means your clients can be all over, from London to New Zealand, New York to South Africa. Sounds glam, but I think it’s easy to forget what’s on your doorstep – and there’s a great saying: ‘Don’t forget your roots, for they’ll always support you‘, which I think is a nice approach to working with local companies. When I started at Big Eye Deers, I was keen to meet up with local business people… Continue reading →
I’ve been a massive fan of Josh Davis’ work for many a year, from his early Unkle days, right through to his solo projects – DJ Shadow has produced amazing ground-breaking albums and is a true pioneer in electronic music. The highlights for me being Private Press and Endtroducing.
When hearing he was playing in Cardiff, I jumped at the chance to go see him and was not disappointed, the audio and visuals was master-class in presentation – DJ Shadow rocked the Cardiff Uni Hall for over an hour with a an awesome mix of old classics and new material.
I’m really looking forward to new DJ Shadow album ‘The Less You Know, The Better’ to be released late September.
We’re a website agency, and know you have to (eurgh, excuse the term…) *strike whilst the iron’s hot* with online campaigns and suchlike, but surely whoever dreamt up this Google Ads campaign “HOLIDAY PRICES WORTH RIOTING ABOUT” is either:
A) The type who rings a bell when he/she makes a sale
B) Someone who frequently uses the term “Think outside the box”
C) Is a bit ‘rad’, overdid it on the narcotics as a teen and has an alter ego named Daz
or
D) Is an absolutely desperate stereotypical advertising c*nt
Facebook has become well known for rolling out updates that seem to detract from the user experience and doing so without any user consultation. The latest batch of updates includes widely discussed and globally despised chat (I’ve yet to hear anyone say anything positive about it). Not since Microsoft’s awful Internet explorer 6 have I seen such a massive company disregard so many industry standards and principles.
Thankfully though some lovely people have whipped up a nice little add on for Chrome and Firefox that runs a bit of javascript every time your Browser hits Facebook and changes the chat window back to the old style. The script install in seconds on Chrome, however in Firefox you need to install the Greasemonkey add on first.
Currently there isn’t support for IE or Safari browser, but quite frankly if you use either of those browsers you don’t deserve to have the old Facebook chat back!
Melissa, a Brazilian footwear brand, creates a giant time-lapse video using Post-it notes as pixels.
A Brazilian footwear company has turned the side of a building in São Paulo into a mega-huge movie screen for an animation that uses Post-its like analogue pixels.
Twenty-five animators worked for a steady five months, stamping sherbet-coloured notes on the U-shaped foyer of the Galeria Melissa to generate an ever-rotating cast of images — from shadow boxes to a charming, psychedelic elephant -captured on time-lapse video above. By project’s end, the animators had blown through a whopping 350,000 Post-Its.
BBC has published a report from insulting, I mean consulting, firm, AptiQuant who gave internet users an IQ test and then compared their scores with the browser they used to take the test.
Users of IE were tarnished with being the least intelligent. (Well, of course, Firefox all the way, eh!) Anyway… the report from AptiQuant has caused uproar from supporters of IE who are looking to take legal action against the firm.
We do love a good HOAX! BBC suckers! Haha. Do your homework – did you even check out the company who released the report? Epic fail. Haha.
